Young people need the prospect of a good future – and we need young people. In order to promote this mutually beneficial relationship, Wincor Nixdorf strives to help young people find their way into the business world. To this end, we support young academics and scientists through a variety of initiatives and projects, some with an international dimension. By way of example, we conduct studies at many sites in collaboration with universities and polytechnics. Our commitment to maintaining a close dialog with universities is reflected in the many dissertation and scholarship programs offered by Wincor Nixdorf. In turn, our own expert speakers give lectures and seminars at various university faculties.
Wincor Nixdorf aims to widen this transfer of expertise with universities and research centers at an international level. At the same time, we want to strengthen our contacts with students and young scientists who view Wincor Nixdorf as a potential employer in the high-tech sector and, in particular, the area of software development. We therefore offer them interesting projects spanning the whole range of specialist fields as part of our internship program.
In the long term, Wincor Nixdorf aims to set up a knowledge exchange platform and a comprehensive innovation network, and is therefore keen to establish contact with suitable local higher education centers. Among our long-standing partners are the Fraunhofer Institute, which conducts research into ATM security technology, as well as the Software Quality Lab (s-lab) and the Heinz Nixdorf Institute at the University of Paderborn. In addition, we provide selected institutions with material support in the form of hardware and software.
Our network of contacts is not restricted to universities, however. To help interest young people in information technology at an early stage and give them an opportunity to see how science and technology can be applied in practice, Wincor Nixdorf also maintains close contact with schools. In Germany, for example, we offer work experience placements, hold project days and support national competitions and campaigns such as “Girls’ Day.”
