Wincor Nixdorf for Co-operative Bank, Great Britain

In less than five months, Wincor Nixdorf migrated more than 2,400 ATMs to the new platform and replaced 900 systems.

Unique performance.
Within five months between December 2006 and April 2007, Wincor Nixdorf migrated over 2,400 ATMs to the new platform, which is powered by two servers located in separate data centers in the U.K. Furthermore, during the project, around 900 ATMs were replaced within a three-month period in order to maximize the benefits of the new end-to-end solution. “This was the largest ATM deployment in that time window ever in the U.K.,” notes Grimmer. “The speed at which we developed the transaction processing platform, deployed new ATMs and migrated our existing machines to the new platform was a key condition of the contract, which we met.” And it is an achievement of which Matt Atkin is proud. “We landed on time,” he says. “The results speak for themselves.”

Because Matt Atkin, head of commercial
payments at the Co-operative Bank, wants
to provide full service to his customers, he
needs full service from Wincor Nixdorf.

Not just for the customer.
Matt Atkin sums up a key benefit of the new transaction processing platform in one word: availability. “In this business, everything begins and ends with availability,” he says. “Our customers, who are primarily store managers, react quickly when a system is unavailable because this affects the customer experience and offering in the store, and, ultimately, can determine the level of ‘footfall’ the store receives. We can proudly say that the availability levels we are now achieving are well on the way to raising service standards in the stores and keeping my customers satisfied – and we aim to keep it that way.”
