POS systems (Glossary) from Wincor Nixdorf: tried-and-tested for ten years now, and due to be used even more often in the future.
Enhancing proven solutions.
Three years ago, CAAS decided to upgrade its existing terminal system with cutting-edge technology, such as touch screens. Wincor Nixdorf won the tender, submitting an offer that combined advanced technology with competitive pricing. Additional reasons for winning the contract were the company’s track record in the
retail sector and, no less important, its ability to offer local support. With its regional headquarters located directly in Singapore, Wincor Nixdorf is ideally positioned to tailor its products to meet the specific needs of customers in the region.
The eight-year contract called for Wincor Nixdorf to run and operate CAAS’ entire Tenant Management System, including the high-end Sun Solaris servers running Informix database solutions and 400 Wincor Nixdorf POS systems, equipped with the Linux operating system and customized application software. To ensure high system availability, the IT company assigned a dedicated team of technicians to CAAS to support the hardware and software systems. The contract also called for managed services, helpdesk services for tenants using the POS system and management of the daily computer operations, such as loading daily sales transactions to the host and compiling a comprehensive report for CAAS. Also included in the service package were shop personnel training and 24-hour on-site service support.
