About Wincor Nixdorf
Refuel, withdraw cash and save

Expertise in retail and banking

Alongside its function as a POS, the ICM also services as an ATM. Customers can therefore withdraw cash with their EC card in the same way as withdrawing cash from their bank ATM. Both functions in a single system: Wincor Nixdorf offered the best conditions for this demanding project. After all, the company has plenty of experience in the field of Cash Management. In the banking field, Wincor Nixdorf can fall back on several decades of know-how. The optimization of cash levels in CashPoints such as the POS, safes and ATMs helps the banks to reduce costs with interest and transport savings. This applies to the retail sector in the same way. Wincor Nixdorf has installed its Cash Management solutions at a large Swiss branch retailer.

However, this special project with Shell and the Postbank is also unusual for Wincor Nixdorf: "We have combined technologies from both of our areas of expertise in Banking and Retail into a customized solution for a retail bank and service station business for the very first time", explains the Project Manager, Andreas Schmidt. The result is certainly one to be proud of. After all, along with the innovative combination of deposit and withdrawal, the system offers a high level of security against robbery because the staff members no longer have access to cash. Furthermore, the automated deposit process reduces the workload for service station operators and its employees. Counting and sorting as well as packing and booking the cash are no longer necessary and the shift changeover is quicker and easier due to the correct POS handover.

An extensive service package

While the German Postbank is responsible for the flow of payments, account administration, cash withdrawal and the management of cash supply and removal by armored transport companies in this project, Wincor Nixdorf is responsible for the operation of the systems over a total period of five years as well as installation of the systems and provision of the necessary software.

These services include the processing and transfer of transaction data along with other services. Apart from this, the information for managing the armored transport companies is generated in the Shell service stations. Wincor Nixdorf has also transferred the individual ICM machines to Deutsche Leasing GmbH. Service station leaseholders that want to offer their customers this new service, enter a five year rental contract with the leasing company which includes the machine rental and a monthly maintenance and service flat-rate fee.
