Fewer costs in the cash office
Emptying cash from POS terminals is both
swift and secure. An authorized person, typically
the head cashier, initiates the cash emptying
processes at the CINEO system by entering
a code. The system’s banknote storeage
module is emptied to a defined level so that change remains in the system. The cash takings
are then transferred to a mobile drum
module. After the drum module is carried to
the cash office, it is docked to CINEO C6020
and emptied.
This is where the second part of the
process to reduce costs comes into play. Cash
doesn’t have to be counted or consolidated.
These tasks are taken over by the CINEO
C6020 system. It sorts and stores the banknotes in the intelligent cash cassettes, which
are also used by the CiT companies for transportation.
The cash is automatically recorded
and reported to the materials management
system. “Cash handling is completely eliminated
in the cash office,” IT Director Rudolph
says. “The double-checking principle is no longer necessary, counting mistakes are not
possible. In general, the whole process significantly
lightens the workload of employees
and offers huge time and cost savings as well
as higher security in sales accounting. Decision in spring
Wincor Nixdorf is currently helping POCO-Domäne
assess how huge the benefits could
be by quantifying the savings effects and
evaluating the security and customer service
aspects. Return on investment can be calculated
based on this information. “The benefits
of the system are undisputable,” Friedhelm
Rudolph says. For him, it was important that
“customer acceptance is high and that the solution
has passed the field test during the turbulent
holiday shopping season.”
The outlook is good. The amortization
still has to be calculated. In spring, POCODomäne
plans to make a decision on whether
to deploy the Cash Cycle Management technology
in other stores.
