Wincor Nixdorf maintains second place for POS solutions for the retail sector
Market leadership in Europe expanded
For 2011, Wincor Nixdorf once again ranks second worldwide measured in terms of shipments of electronic POS solutions to retail companies. In Europe, it even managed to expand its unrivalled market leadership. These are two key results from the latest study published by the British company Retail Banking Research (RBR).
Europe's leading provider of electronic POS solutions for the core segments food/non-food and general merchandise reached second place worldwide for the first time in 2010 and has thus continued the positive trend of the last few years. Since then, according to RBR, the IT company has succeeded in increasing the worldwide number of shipments once again and extending its lead over the third-placed company.
In its established markets Wincor Nixdorf was therefore able to reinforce its excellent market position and at the same achieve successes in the Asia/Pacific region and in Central and South America. In particular in Central and Eastern Europe, the IT solution provider for the store and branch business of retailers and banks increased the number of shipments for electronic POS solutions by around 50 percent.
Thomas Fell, responsible for worldwide IT business with retail companies at Wincor Nixdorf, sees the RBR study as confirmation of the sales strategy: "It pays off that we are very sales-oriented and have an international structure. It means we can offer retail businesses worldwide complete end-to-end-solutions."
