Wincor Nixdorf Completes Worldwide Installation of One Millionth BEETLE® POS System

Industry-Leading POS Retail Platform Installed in Lowe’s Home Improvement Center

AUSTIN, Texas, December 17, 2007 – Wincor Nixdorf, one of the world’s leading suppliers of total IT solutions for the banking and retail industries, today announced the one millionth worldwide installation of its BEETLE® POS platform at Lowe’s Home Improvement Centers.

This installation milestone reflects both Wincor Nixdorf’s and Lowe’s tremendous growth during their partnership.  Lowe’s has expanded from 624 to 1,475 retail locations nationwide in just seven years, and Wincor Nixdorf has been a key equipment supplier throughout that period.

“Lowe’s has been an exemplary partner for a number of years, and it seems only fitting that this landmark installation of our one millionth BEETLE® take place in one of their stores,” said Tad Shepperd, vice president of Wincor Nixdorf’s U.S. Retail Group.  “Needless to say, it’s been exciting for all of us at Wincor Nixdorf to observe Lowe’s rapid expansion since the installation of our first BEETLE® in one of their stores in 2001.”  Shepperd continued

Currently, Wincor Nixdorf provides point of sale (POS) systems like the BEETLE® and related services and software to 17 of the world’s top 25 retailers. Wincor Nixdorf’s BEETLE® POS platform includes a full range of powerful, retail-tested models built upon a common technology platform that greatly simplifies software deployment and hardware maintenance, ultimately providing significant savings throughout the store system lifecycle.

By utilizing the BEETLE® suite, users can select the configuration that meets their specific requirements, allowing them to quickly, accurately and reliably service the consumer, thereby helping to maximize the bottom line. Having matured over twelve years, recent introductions include the next-generation BEETLE® family based on Intel® Pentium® M technology and the sealed chassis BEETLE® /MX and /SX.
