Canteens and catering
The sector is characterized by a heterogeneous IT landscape as a result of individually and historically evolved structures at companies. On the one hand, caterers bring their own IT with them, yet there is also IT on site that must be integrated with theirs. Another challenge is integration of the cashless payment system at the canteen checkout, as well as of existing vending machine stations.
Prime concerns are operational reliability, data security and fail-safe performance. These are ensured by duplicate backup and the possibility of reading sales data: in the POS system’s database and in the card readers themselves.
There is also the option of choosing between a prepaid card (debit) with cash top-up stations, a credit card with downstream debiting from wages and salaries or a combination of the two variants. In the process, it is irrelevant whether a special catering card (Legic/Mifare/Hitac) or the existing employee ID card is used.
