High Customer Acceptance for PSA

The innovative systems which Wincor Nixdorf has built into the METRO Group's Future Store made headlines even when the store was opened on May 28 in 2003 by supermodel Claudia Schiffer.

One week after the press frenzy, the executives responsible were more than satisfied both with customer usage and with the way the systems had stood up to the task. In the first four days alone, the mobile Personal Shopping Assistants (PSAs) conducted 200,000 transactions. The maximum number of PSAs in use at any one time was approximately 40. The PSAs accompany customers through the shop, and each day between 200 and 250 customers use them to navigate the express checkout, using the PSA's on-board self-scanning function. In particular the Personal Shopping Assistant's almost fault-free operation makes Marketing Manager Joachim Pinhammer optimistic about other future uses: at the end of the day, the application is a highly complex one, networked with a great many other systems.

As well as the Personal Shopping Assistant, Wincor Nixdorf has also installed advertising displays from the BEETLE /iSCREEN family and modular CERTO kiosk terminals in the METRO Group Future Store.
