The retail company offers its customers the option of storing important dates from their private or business life such as birthdays, wedding anniversaries, parties etc. and ideas for gifts. At a predefined time prior to the date the customer will receive a text message on his or her mobile phone with a reminder of this date. This also enables the customer to buy the gift that was found at the time and have it sent. This can be done very easily by means of a WAP dialog from a mobile phone, over the Internet or with a phone call to the call center.
The technical basis of the mobile event reminder is the Oracle E-Business Suite with which the Internet shop and communication with the customers' mobile phones have been implemented.
