Sparkasse KölnBonn turns over VoIP operation to Wincor Nixdorf subsidiary prosystemsIT for five years

prosystemsIT, a Wincor Nixdorf company, has been commissioned by Sparkasse KölnBonn with the operation of the bank’s voice-over-IP (VoIP) systems for the next five years. The contract includes the replacement of the 7,000 existing analog terminals from a variety of manufacturers as well as the operation of all of the new uniform voice-over-IP terminals and forty servers. The project will result in a modern, homogeneous complete solution from one provider that will enable Sparkasse KölnBonn to save a six-figure sum every year. 
The process will start in the third quarter of 2009 with the replacement of the terminals and the takeover of server operations by prosystems IT. The systems will be migrated to the newest technology over the project’s life-span in a process coordinated individually with the customer. By the end of the project, 150 Sparkasse KölnBonn telephone systems of different types and ages and from different manufacturers will be replaced, thus eliminating the high maintenance costs necessitated by the old systems. 
In addition to device replacement, prosystemsIT will take over the operation of applications for the bank’s telecommunications system, billing and maintenance for the 7,000 IP terminal devices, and network monitoring.
All Sparkasse data that is available via the bank's data network will now be connected to the central telephone system.  This will enable employees to log in at any workstation in the bank and be reachable under their usual telephone numbers. Call forwarding will no longer be necessary. The new VoIP system offers uniform functions and keyboard layout for all terminal devices plus integration in the bank’s e-mail system. Telephone and fax connections can be initiated directly from the e-mail system, which means, for example, that a telephone number included in an e-mail signature block can be called simply by clicking on it. This system will also provide a foundation for Web conferencing.
