Cash Management solutions for banks and retail companies
Optimizing cash cycles across all cash points
Cash continues to play a dominating role. And cash handling processes in banks and retail companies are both labor and cost-intensive. Therefore Wincor Nixdorf evolves a cross-industry cash management solution consisting of hard- and software solutions and intelligent IT services.
Although it’s been 20 years since cashless payment systems were introduced, cash is still used in well over 50 percent of the payment transactions handled in retail outlets in most countries. This means that cash continues to play a dominating role. Unfortunately, cash handling processes in banks and retail companies are both labor and cost-intensive.
The objective of cash management at banks and retail companies is to optimize cash holdings in automated teller machines, POS systems and safes. Thanks to its hardware and software solutions, Wincor Nixdorf makes cash flows transparent and optimizes the entire cycle between banks, retailers and central banks from the provision to the disposal of cash.
The complete cash handling process is automated and the cycle is shortened from the outset with the aid of intelligent deposit and recycling systems.
Further we’re refining software solutions that are based on mathematical optimization models and define exact replenishment intervals for automated teller machines and teller safes. The softwareanalyzes the entire cash cycle at banks and optimizes cash holdings at one or more branches. The branches’ overall cash management costs are optimized for all automated teller machines, teller positions, recycling systems and branch safes, and users are provided with an overview of the entire cash provisioning process chain.
Cash points or branches with unusually high levels of cash can supply other cash points. As a result, returns of unused cash are reduced and transportation and cash handling costs are cut. Cash holdings within a defined network – one or more branches – can thus circulate optimally.
In retailing enterprises, cash handling is a process that offers great potential for productivity improvements. The cost of handling cash, for example for a single POS terminal in food retailing, amounts to approximately EUR 6,000 to 8,000 per year – almost three quarters of the total cost of ownership for a POS system! Wincor Nixdorf’s cash management portfolio is playing a pioneering role in cash process optimization in retail businesses through new solutions to improve productivity. These solutions focus on the entire process chain – from the POS terminal all the way to the crediting of cash takings to a retail company's bank account. We support customers in our core industries with services along the entire cash management value chain – from product purchasing to outsourcing.
