Lotto Hessen opts for new-generation terminals from Wincor Nixdorf Wincor Nixdorf has won an order to equip around 2,000 outlets of regional lottery operator Lotterie-Treuhandgesellschaft mbH Hessen with Xion /Mplus lottery terminals and the corresponding software. All in all, Wincor Nixdorf will be providing Lotto Hessen, as it is known, with 2,250 terminals. This newly acquired customer will help to consolidate Wincor Nixdorf's position as market leader in Germany, taking its market share to around 70 percent. Some 19,500 of the total installed base of 28,000 terminals in German lottery outlets already boast the Wincor Nixdorf label. During the tender, Wincor Nixdorf was able to assert itself against the international competition. A crucial factor in its success was its undisputed position as market leader for IT solutions for the retail industry. Together, the partners want to make the most of Wincor Nixdorf's know-how in this area to leverage further sales potential in the lottery outlets, the goal being to optimize the existing lottery outlet delivery channel and to take account of changing customer flows. Another plus point for Wincor Nixdorf during the bidding phase was its ability to offer its hardware and software as an open solution that allows connection to the existing centralized lottery systems. Buoyed by its success with Hessen Lotto, Wincor Nixdorf is confident about the future, with other lottery operators looking to replace their terminals very soon.
