New solution portfolio for greater security and lower cash handling costs Wincor Nixdorf has rolled out a completely new portfolio of Cash Cycle Management solutions that offers customers maximum security, optimal transparency, improved processes and, at the same time, lowers their costs by over 20 percent. With this portfolio, which focuses on the features common to cash processes in banks and retail enterprises and is based on a completely new concept, manual processes are automated so that bank and store staff no longer come into contact with cash. Cash continues to be the number one payment method. Nine out of ten payment transactions all over the world are handled in cash. Surveys conducted by Wincor Nixdorf show that this generates costs of over USD 300 billion, a great proportion of it in banks and retail enterprises. According to the European Central Bank, the number of euro notes alone in circulation grows by nine percent each year. In total, cash handling incurs costs amounting to some EUR 50 billion in Europe each year. The new Cash Cycle Management portfolio from Wincor Nixdorf is designed to automate cash processes in banks and retail enterprises to the greatest possible extent and to shorten the cash logistics chain. This is achieved by installing systems based on a banknote storage concept that has been standardized for use in banking and retail scenarios. The storage concept makes it possible to exchange cassettes between devices from the new CINEO system family. A memory chip in the cassette provides information at all times on both the level of cash inside, and where and when the cassette was used or opened. With its Cash Cycle Management Solutions for retail, Wincor Nixdorf focuses initially on the store. Intelligent coin and banknote solutions for the POS automate cash processes which include accepting payments and paying out change. Cash can be picked up from the POS terminals quickly and securely using a mobile, audit-proof drum module. This is docked onto the cash office system and emptied. The cash is validated and stored with a full audit trail in intelligent storage media (cassettes). These cassettes can also be used by CiT operators to pick up the cash. Concept development focused on the requirements of the heterogeneous retail world with its different segments and formats, as well as on ensuring that solutions are user-friendly. The concept covers different automation scenarios at the checkout such as cash automation at the conventional POS, self-checkout and mobile shopping solutions. An important aspect for customer acceptance is an identical look and feel and the same ease of use in different checkout scenarios. Wincor Nixdorf addresses these requirements by using the same hardware and software technology platform for Cash Cycle Management in all scenarios. As a result, standardized solution modules that can be freely combined protect retailers' investments and enable them to automate their cash processes step by step. For example, they can start by automating cash processes in the cash office, then integrate self-service solutions and, finally, their entire POS system estate. With the components of its Cash Cycle Management Solutions Base, Wincor Nixdorf offers modular software solutions for control, monitoring and system management. The standards-based software architecture makes it possible to integrate all cash points in downstream monitoring and controlling systems. This is flanked by services from Wincor Nixdorf: system monitoring and maintenance can both be handled via Wincor Nixdorf's eServices Platform. This gives retail companies maximum transparency, since the path taken by cash along the entire process chain, from the moment it is accepted at the checkout to posting at the bank, can be traced and monitored at all times. A further option for retailers is to completely outsource organization and control of their cash handling processes to Wincor Nixdorf.
