Employee self-service for smooth processes
Companies are using employee portals or linking employees to standard human resource systems to improve their internal flow of information and rationalize their HR work. Real optimization effects can only be achieved, however, when all employees are integrated in the system – including those who do not have a PC at their workplace.
Wincor Nixdorf has developed special kiosk terminals for this purpose that enable all employees, regardless of the time and where they work, to access the company's intranet or their personal HR data. Both generally available and access-protected information can be retrieved and printed via these communication media. Conversely, employees can use the terminal to communicate with the HR department, for example in order to request vacation, correct time data if authorized to do so, and change their address details.
Optimization potential. The upshot is that employees no longer need to go regularly to the HR department, information is made available at short notice, and costly handling of paper is avoided. Superiors get the latest data without any delay, for instance sickness figures and vacation plans. The potential for errors is reduced considerably compared with, for example, filling in paper forms. As a result, kiosk terminals are a great help in optimizing workflows and reducing administrative effort and potential error sources such as can occur with paperwork. The system thus frees up HR management for strategic and advisory functions.
- Security. Kiosk terminals from Wincor Nixdorf, such as the ProPrint 2000 and ProInfo 1000, guarantee secure, protected communication of personal data by using, among other things, an integrated card reader to authenticate users for an ERP system and by deploying a browser technology that can be restricted to certain functions to ensure safe browsing with personal data. Unauthorized attempts to access Control Panel are prevented via a touchscreen or trackball that does not feature critical key functions such as Ctrl, Alt or Del.
Another notable aspect is that the terminal will retract any printouts that have not been removed and then blacken them and place them in the inner protected area of the system. In addition, a display privacy filter and an additionally installable privacy shield prevent onlookers from seeing details while the terminal is in use. In contrast to a normal PC, the terminals provide a high level of security as required in an environment with many employees.
