The service enables customers to withdraw cash from their accounts in conjunction with a personal PIN. Customers key in the PIN on a separate card reader, and their cash is then handed out to them by Deutsche Bahn staff. The new cash service in Aschaffenburg is free of charge for Postbank and Cash Group (Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, HypoVereinsbank) customers, while clients of other banks pay a EUR 1.95 charge for the service. The new cash management technology from Wincor Nixdorf creates the scenario needed to dispense banknotes at the travel center. Alongside cash withdrawals, the ‘operator-assisted cash dispensers’ from Wincor Nixdorf’s new CINEO system generation also offer conventional POS functions. Cash input during the payment process is automatically stored in a safe. Thanks to this safe function, the device guarantees the travel center higher security and cuts the costs of cash handling. Postbank collaborated with Shell and Wincor Nixdorf to introduce the cash withdrawal service at a present figure of 1,300 Shell service stations over the last two years. The Bonn-based bank now sees another opportunity to expand the existing network of over 9,000 Cash Group ATMs, which includes Postbank’s own 1,900 cash dispensers.
