150,000th ProView license installed at Banque Populaire The ProView monitoring solution is gradually evolving into an IT management platform. Wincor Nixdorf has just installed license no. 150,000 for ProView – its software solution for the monitoring and control of self-service networks –with its customer Banque Populaire. Banque Populaire is a network of 18 regional financial institutions with around 3,400 branches, and forms part of BPCE, France's second largest banking group. The bank already monitors 4,000 automated teller machines with ProView, and its goal is to extend the solution to cover its entire self-service network of 7,000 systems. Today, 220 banks around the world deploy the ProView solution. In the last 18 months alone, the software was used to connect 50,000 terminals to banks’ background systems making Wincor Nixdorf one of the international market leaders in agent-based monitoring. ATMs, account service terminals, even POS systems in retail environments can all deliver information that goes far beyond their operating status. New-generation CINEO systems, for instance, can supply detailed information on the cash holdings in every single device – data that can be used to optimize cash cycle management. What is more, ProView can provide background systems with information that can help safeguard the systems. Anti-skimming modules, for example, or optical surveillance systems supply details of attempts to tamper with ATMs, information which can also be useful for evaluating the incidents and responding accordingly. In future, ProView's versatility will enable it to be deployed in a wider range of applications: not only to monitor banking systems, but also to monitor and administer the IT systems of retailers, such as traditional POS and self-checkout systems. Information from both market sectors will then flow together for further processing and evaluation – by tools for controlling cash logistics or business intelligence software, for example. Thus allowing users to respond to crucial events immediately. But what prompted Banque Populaire in particular to opt for ProView? It was the possibility of customizing the standard software to meet the bank's specific needs, and also the software's open structure, which enables the integration of other ProClassic/Enterprise solutions. Technical monitoring, event monitoring of transaction, error and status messages, ticket handling, and the option of analyzing incidents directly at the devices – these are just some of the functions of which Banque Populaire makes use, enabling the bank to keep a constant eye on all the data it considers important.
