Cash Cycle Management™ Solutions
End-to-end concept for cash handling

Cash is the number one payment method: Nine out of ten payment transactions around the globe are handled in cash and the number of banknotes in circulation keeps on growing. According to the European Central Bank, on average six to seven percent more Euro notes were issued in each of the past five years. The same increase applies for US-Dollar banknotes, according to the Federal Reserve.
However, cash handling is expensive: According to surveys by Wincor Nixdorf, the total costs amount to more than 300 billion dollars worldwide every year. The lion’s share is incurred in retailing and at retail banks, with the remainder spread over transportation and cash handing by CiT operators and at the central banks. The reasons for this are very time-consuming, often manual cash handling processes. For example, the costs for depositing cash at a bank branch’s front office are 7 times higher than at a self-service system.
In addition, cash handling includes several security risks, such as manipulation and robbery. There is also a demand for greater transparency in the cash cycle: “where is my cash?” and “how much cash do I have right now?”. These questions often cannot be answered – or are only answered inadequately– in today’s process chain.
But Wincor Nixdorf has the answer: Wincor Nixdorf’s new Cash Cycle ManagementTM Solutions automate cash processes in banks and retail companies and shorten the cash logistics chain – thanks to the CINEO system family, which uses a banknote storage concept standardized for use in banks and retail settings. As part of a closed cash cycle cash that has been deposited can immediately be dispensed again. The intelligent note storage concept enables the exchange of storage media between cash points at a branch or a store and the linking of cash cycles between bank branches and retail stores.
Cash recycling systems are the entry point for closed cash cycles in banking. An extended scenario includes the exchange of storage media between the CINEO systems within a bank branch. In a continuous expansion all branches of a bank become part of the closed cash cycle. Scenarios in the retail industry range from the automation of cash processes in the checkout zone or cash office to the establishment of closed cash cycles within a store.
In the Inter-Business Cycle – a joint scenario for banks and retail companies – banks’ cash points can be replenished directly with the full cash cassettes from a retail store, without the involvement of cash centers. In the Cash Center Cycle scenario, which also integrates CiT operators and their cash centers, a completely closed cash cycle can be created by the automated replenishment of the intelligent cassettes in the cash center.
