Sparda-Bank Berlin turns over operation of self-service systems to Wincor Nixdorf Effective immediately, Wincor Nixdorf will assume the role of general contractor for the operation of the self-service systems at Sparda-Bank Berlin. The bank and Wincor Nixdorf have concluded an outsourcing contract with an initial term of two years. The agreement includes the monitoring of the self-service systems, restoration of service in the event of disruptions, cash replenishment, cash optimization, and branch service. What is unique to this project is the price model that Sparda-Bank has adopted to pay for Wincor Nixdorf's services: the bank will pay a set fee for each transaction on a self-service system. Thus the fixed costs that the bank has incurred to date for the operation of its self-service systems will become variable costs. For Wincor Nixdorf, this model offers the attraction that process optimization can be used to achieve a continual reduction in operating costs per transaction. Wincor Nixdorf convinced the bank with a service portfolio that guaranteed Sparda-Bank better availability for its self-service system base. These systems - nearly 400 separate machines from a variety of manufacturers - are operated and maintained in 76 branches in eastern Germany, including Berlin. An additional attraction was the cost savings of approximately 30% that can be expected from outsourcing compared with in-house care and operation of the systems. "Moreover, we can now free our staff of administrative tasks, use them more for sales-oriented activities and thus create more capacity for individual customer consulting," says Dieter Hoffmann, Chairman of the Executive Board of Sparda-Bank Berlin, in describing the advantages of the arrangement. These benefits are made possible through an end-to-end monitoring of the entire self-service network using a remote monitoring service. Changes in status are shown immediately, allowing both early intervention to avert disruptions in service and a more focused dispatch of service personnel where this is necessary. In addition, Wincor Nixdorf is responsible for the organization and control of the cash-in-transport services that replenish the ATMs. In order to reduce the costs of replenishment, Wincor Nixdorf's cash management software ProCash Analyzer analyzes and determines the optimal replenishment amounts and intervals for each individual ATM. "With Wincor Nixdorf, we have been able to realize and rigorously implement our sales philosophy of cashless branches in an optimal fashion," noted Hoffmann with satisfaction at the contract signing.
